Saint Felices Chapel

The panoramic view from this sanctuary is impressive all year round, but particularly on 29 June, the day on which the 'Wine Battle' takes place. From this sharp ridge, you can see the Ebro making its way into La Rioja, flowing through the Conchas de Haro (a natural channel carved out by the passage of the Ebro) and meandering though the vineyards much like an inebriated giant. The chapel sits upon the crags of Bilibio, some six kilometres to the north of Haro, where first there rose a Roman fort and later, at the end of the 5th century, Saint Felices - whose sober stone effigy crowns the hill - made his retreat alongside his disciple Saint Millán. This is as close to the heavens as can be got.

Do you know the wines from Saint Felices Chapel?
