Bodegas Santalba lies in a choice location in the Rioja Alta, where three geographical accidents saw the creation of a micro-climate that is unique in vine cultivation and local varieties. To the north: the natural wall of the Obarenes and Toloño Hills. This range protects our vineyards from Cantabrian weather - the heavy rains and damp winds. To the south: the Ebro river lends the region a Mediterranean character, making the temperature changes of a continental climate more agreeable. Lastly: the Sierra de la Demanda makes the area perfect, protecting the region from the dry winds and high temperatures of the south.
